Guide to Writing Effective Blogs

Contrary to intuition, the primary purpose of blogs isn’t to educate the reader.

The Primary Purpose of creating blog entries is to consistently create new content for our business’ website that will boost our relevance on the web according to search engine algorithms. Basically, blog help feed the algorithms that populate the results whenever a web searcher searches for something related to our business.

The Secondary Purpose of creating a Blog is to educate the reader on current events, information, experiences, or general topics of popular interest.

Please remember, that you are not required to add SEO elements to your blogs, but if you would like to try of if it helps you write better you may follow these guidelines:

  • Blogs should not be less than 300 words or more than 1200.
  • Blogs should be split into 3 sections, each with it’s own sub-heading.
  • Insert key words into your blog as many times as you can.
    1. If you use a particular key word, you should insert it multiple times, as many places as you can.
    2. If you use more than one key word, try to insert each key word multiple times.
    3. You can use parts of a key words as well, for instance, you can separate “Business for Sale” and “Near Me” which will become two key words that boost our main key word, “Business for sale near me”

  • Find the 4 headings/Sub-Headings: Game of Groans: Part 1 of 3, Accept, Adapt, To Be Continued
    • Google’s SEO algorithm looks for something called “Header Tags” which show up on the back end of the website’s content. 3+ Headings makes the page’s content relevant to the algorithm.
  • Find the Key Words: Business Brokerage San Jose CA (3x)

 

Second Example: https://sunbeltbayarea.net/performing-businesses-are-an-endangered-speciesbusiness-brokerage-san-jose-ca/

  • Find the 4 headings/Sub-Headings: Performing Businesses are an Endangered Species, Case In Point, The Data, It’s Time
  • Find the Key Words: San Jose CA (5x), Business Brokerage San Jose CA (3X
    • Although “san Jose CA” appears by itself twice, it also appears inside of the key word “Business Brokerage San Jose CA” 3x, making a total of 5 times that it appears.

Because blogs are organized in a gallery and shared on social media, images should be sized properly and consistently so that they will post properly.

  1. The Sunbelt Website’s gallery:
    • Requires that all images are the same size.
    • Varied sizes of images will cause the gallery to display in an unorganized fashion.
    • The minimum required image size: 1000px by 700px (10 in by 7 in)
    • Any files larger than the minimum required size will be resized by the office before posting to the blog.
    • Image sizes smaller than the required minimum size will be required to be replaced. Small image sizes cannot be stretched without causing pixelation and reducing the image quality.
  2. Social Media sites:
    • Our blogs are re-posted on no less than 4 social media sites.
    • Different sites require different image sizes

How to use the Blog Topic List:
  1. Chose a topic. You can re-word the subject if you like.
  2. Check-mark it as “used.”
  3. Select your initials form the drop-down menu in the “Agent” column.
  4. Type in the date that you chose it. Not the day that it’s posted, but the day you selected the subject.
